Seiko Vintage 6139-6002 Pogue/Cevert Blue Dial Chronograph from November 1972

All original head except for crystal which was replaced at service and new full length bracelet which has been replaced with a high quality Uncle Seiko designed & commissioned  specifically for this watch.  These watches are often referred to as blue Pogue's after Colonel William Pogue who wore his own personal yellow dial 6139 on NASA's Skylab 4 mission in 1973, to read more about that please click here

More recently these blue dial 6139's are becoming known as the 'Cevert' after a photo emerged of the legendary and maverick French F1 driver François Cevert wearing his during a photo call in his car circa 1972. Tragically he was killed soon after in a crash during practice at Watkins Glen International in 1973. Many had tipped him as a future world champion, including his friend and mentor legendary driver Jackie Stewart. Cevert's death was the catalyst for Stewart launching his lifelong campaign to improve driver safety in motorsport. Another notable fan is Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason wore one too. Please click here to read more about Cevert, Mason and the history of this iconic watch.

This watch came to me from the son of the original owner who purchased the watch new in Argentina in 1973 as a result the second language on the day dial is Spanish.

Manufactured by the Suwa factory in November 1972 and just serviced (November 2020) so  movement is freshly lubricated, clean and free of any deterioration. Keeping amazing vintage time. Automatic chronograph with a single thirty minute register at 6 o’clock and internal rotating bezel with tachymetre scale, operated via the crown. Chrono functions all working as they should, buttons click nice and firmly and it resets perfectly to zero. Day/Date functions working correctly by pushing in the crown lightly for day and more firmly for date. Cosmetically in excellent condition. Dial near perfect and only minor marking to the case and bezel.

Movement: Original, SEIKO Suwa 6139B - Great condition, screw heads are in good condition. Fully serviced November 2020, test worn for 24 hours & keeping chronometer grade time during inspection.
